12th International Interdisciplinary Literature Festival SARDAM
(26 – 28 September 2024, Limassol)
PRESS-RELEASE-SARDAM-2024.docx
Writers-performers and other artists from Cyprus and abroad share original ways of writing, reading and performing literature, through performances, workshops and parallel events. The common link is the combination of literature and discourse with contemporary and classical means of expression, such as theatre, technology, sound/music, spoken word, sound poetry, visual arts, and so on.
Just like last year, the main event of group performances will be divided into two evenings, showcasing different participants each day, on 27 & 28/09, at 8pm, at Synergio in Limassol. Parallel events/installations will take place at the Old Vinegar Factory in Limassol, on 26/09 and 27/09. Two workshops will also be open to the public for participation, one at the Old Vinegar Factory (26/09 afternoon) and one at Synergio (28/09 morning).
The 12th SARDAM will present two dynamic collaborations with literary groups from Greece, Mauve Medouses and the interdisciplinary festival for Gender and Literature of Athens, as well as the well-known artistic group and literary magazine Farmako [FRMK]. This year’s guest of honour will be the unique Swiss musician, poet and songwriter Michael Fehr who, without 95% of his eyesight, tours as a poet-performer in various parts of the world. The talented songwriter from Greece, Sophie Lies, will close the second night of performances. Notable returns to the festival, and for the first time in a live performance, are Anthony Anaxagorou (Cyprus / UK), Katia Ditzler (Germany) and Cia Rinne (Sweden / Germany). They will be joined by Zachary Schoenhut (Belgium / USA), who is appearing at the festival for the first time in collaboration with Dimitris Chimonas. From Cyprus, the festival will showcase Nama Dama, Marios Pavlou, Panagiotis Mina in collaboration with Tasos Lamnisos (x.ypno) and Maria Konstanti in collaboration with Marc Samper Vidal. This year, special emphasis is given, among other things, on the combination of literature/words with sound and music.
